Easter Bunny Gift

I don't have a card to share with you today, but a different type of project.

I wanted to make an Easter gift for my Dad as I didn't want to just give him an ordinary Easter Egg.  So I created this triangular container and put a bag of mini eggs inside and decorated the front with a stamped image and bow.

This cute little bunny stamp was a free gift with this month's Craft Stamper Magazine and I think he has the most adorable face.

I made the container from a piece of 8x8 paper from the Spring Life paper pack by Papermania.  I coloured the bunny with my ProMarkers and cut him out using a deckle edge oval nestability die.  I attached the image to the front, added a small yellow ribbon bow and three mini orange buttons - job done!!!

The picture on the right shows the project from a different angle.

I hope you've enjoyed your visit to my blog today.  I hope you'll visit again soon when I will have another project to share with you.

Glittery Hearts

It's wednesday again and that means it is my turn to spotlight my work on the Whimsical Ink Sorority Blog for Queen Kat Designs and I like to show my project on here too for my regular visitors.

The QKD DT this week are working with some of the 'older' QKD stamps and I decided to use the 'Hearts On My Sleeves' mermaid as I haven't worked with her for a while.

Just for a change I thought I'd use decoupage on my project.  I stamped and coloured three images and then cut each layer out with a set of nestabilities oval large scallop dies.  Making each layer smaller than the one below and attaching them with silicone glue, created a sort of pyramage effect.
The layers can be seen more clearly in the close up picture below.

The background paper was from my stash and I 'blinged it up' by drawing round the flowers with Crystal Stickles (although this doesn't show up too well in the picture).  I punched out swirls with a couple of EK Success punches and added Stickles to these too.  Finally I added Stickles round the edge of the bottom image layer.

This gorgeous big light coffee colour rose is from Wild Orchid Crafts and the small cream roses were in my stash.

I think the pale pastel shades work well with this gorgeous image and I love all the glitter!

The 40% off stamps sale in the QKD Store ends today, so you'll have to hurry if you want to grab these fabulous girls for your own stamp stash!

Thanks for visiting and I hope you'll be back soon as I have lots of new projects to share with you.

Winter Wonderland Hop

Nice to see Ya!  Thanks for joining in with the Queen Kat Designs Monday Blog Hop this week.  I hope you arrived here via Penny's Blog but if you just stopped by here first, you really should go back to the beginning of the Hop on the QKD Blog so you don't miss any of today's creations from the DT.

Well I have to confess that the challenge set by Queen Kat for this week pushed me so far outside my 'comfort zone' that I almost couldn't find my way back!!

For this week's projects the DT were tasked with creating a banner.  Not something I have ever made before and I honestly didn't know where to start!  So, I sat and scratched my head for quite a while before inspiration finally arrived.

The picture on the left above probably doesn't look at all like a banner to you, and you'd be right.  The banner is cunningly concealed inside the card.

As the card opens, the banner is revealed.  The lovely images from the January WIS Kit are suspended on a thread across the inside of the card, which lifts as the card opens - as you can see in the picture on the right.

Once the card is fully open, the banner is displayed across the centre, as you can see in the final picture below.

I decided to use the delightful January WIS Kit stamps for this project as it is perfect for creating a Christmas themed card.  Although I haven't used specifically Christmas papers, the colours work well on the design.  I coloured the images with ProMarkers and Copics, used a set of spellbinders nestabilities dies to cut out the layers used on the front of the card and the images and sentiments on the inside.  The flowers were from my stash and the fabulous metallic half beads were from the QKD Store.

The 40% discount off most stamps is still running over at the Store, but only until 31 March, so you've just got a couple of days left to take advantage of the great savings, so don't miss out.

I'm now sending you hopping along your way to Steph's blog to see the fabulous creation she has to share with you today.  Thanks for hopping with us, it is such an honour and pleasure to share my work with you and I do hope you'll join in and hop again next monday with us.  Don't forget there is also a Tuesday Hop each week when the remainder of the DT share thier creations with you.  As always, the hops start at the QKD Blog - just start at the blog tomorrow and follow the links.

A Day at the NEC - a good time was had by all!

Just a quick posting to show you the lovely goodies I got at the NEC today and the crafting pals I met up with there.

The first pic is my stash, second one is of the contents of the £5 Goodie Bag I got on the Create and Craft stand - it had loads of goodies in it, including stamps, card blanks, peel offs, gems and embossing powders.  The last pic is the stash my Dad bought - did you spot the new Cuttlebug hiding in the back there?  Didn't we all do well.

On this second set of pics, first one is my Dad (wearing the badge I made for him) second is Dad being escorted away by Stormtroupers!!!  lastly a pic of my lovely pals Lynn (left) and Jayne (right) we meet up at the Magnolia stand.

Purple Fairy Dream

Hello and welcome to my blog today.  I have set this project up to autopost as I am away from home, visiting the craft show at the NEC today.  I don't have a huge shopping list for the show, but I suspect I may end up with quite a few new 'goodies' that I MUST have before the end of the day!!!  I am going with my Dad and Niece and meeting up with a couple of my on-line crafting pals - it should be a great day!

For today's card, I decided to use this awesome manga/steam punk style fairy stamp from Queen Kat Designs.  I love all the stamps designed by Che Gilson as they are just so different.

Although this stamp is called 'Green Fairy', I decided to use these lush purple papers and coloured her with shades of purple and grey ProMarkers to match.  I stamped some swirls on to the background papers with black ink and added a sparkly brad in the top righthand corner.

I just love the way Che draws the eyes on these characters and I added Glossy Accents to highlight them.  I also gave her purple shiny boots as I think she's that kinda girl!!!  I cut the image out with a deckle edge oval nestabilities die and attached this over a metallic purple layer cut with a plain oval nestie.   I stamped the DREAM sentiment on white card and added Dusty Concord Distress Ink around the edges.  Finally I added two lengths of purple ribbon, attached with staples, then the three bow shaped buttons along the bottom.

The layout I used is the sketch for this week over on the Craftbubble.com Let's Get Stamping Challenge and as I used a brad, button and bow (on the thread through the buttons) this card meets all the requirements to be an entry for this week.

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you've enjoyed it.  On monday there is another QKD Blog Hop and I shall have a project on here to share with you as part of the Hop.  I do hope you'll stop by again soon - I just loved having you visit!

Princess Tilda

As soon as I saw this adorable Magnolia princess tilda I just had to create a special card on which to use her!

I wanted to make a special Thank You card for a lovely crafting pal who is so kind and generous and I think she might like this one!

I coloured her with ProMarkers and Copics, adding touches of gold Spica glitter pen on her tiara and dress trims.

I love this spellbinders shapabilities pendant die set and used it to cut out two layers on which to sit tilda.  The background paper is from a pack of DCWV papers I received as a free gift and  I distressed the edges slightly with TH Distress Ink in brushed cordoroy.

The red flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and I added them to the centre of flowers I punched out with a large retro flower punch from EK Success from patterned paper.

Thanks so much for visiting today, I hope you'll return again to see more of my creations.

WIS Wednesday - Purple Haze

On wednesdays each week, I spotlight one of my projects on the Queen Kat Designs Whimsical Ink Sorority Blog.  All this month I've been lucky enough to have had the March WIS Kit to play with and I have to say I've really enjoyed working with these amazing stamps.  I wanted to use this stamp once more before we move on to the April WIS Kit, as she is such a beauty.

I coloured her in shades of purple and blue with ProMarkers and added some Spica glitter pen to parts of the image.  The butterfly is one of the accessory stamps included in the Kit and I used it to create background paper.  I stamped it with Dusty Concord Distress Ink randomly on to the pale lilac pearlised paper and three more times on white card.  I coloured the images on which card with ProMarkers and attached them in a line over a strip of paper punched with a Martha Stewart lacy scallop border punch.

I cut out the image with an oval deckle edge nestabilities die and attached it over a purple metallic layer cut with a slightly larger die from the same set.  I then stamped one of the sentiments from the Kit on to white card, added a purple star brad then attached it underneath the image.

Finally, I added a mother of pearl button with purple ribbon tied through the centre.

Most stamps in the Queen Kat Designs Store are discounted by 40% at the moment, but the sale ends on 31 March, so don't miss out on this opportunity to add some of these amazing stamps to your stash.

I hope you've enjoyed your visit today, I'll have another WIS project to share with you next wednesday, I do hope you'll come back then.

Dream a Little Dream

It's monday, so that must mean it's time for another Queen Kat Designs Royal Court Blog Hop - Yay what fun !!  I am so happy to welcome you here as you hop along today.  You should have arrived here from Penny's blog, if you came straight here it would be a great idea to pop back to the start of the Hop on the QKD blog and just follow the links as you hop along.  That way you won't miss any of today's awesome DT creations.

The challenge this week from Queen Kat is to work with the picture over on the right for inspiration.

When I first saw the picture, the very zingy colours were what I noticed first, followed by the stripes and the rich plumpness of the pillows.

For my card, I decided to go with the striped theme, although I have toned down the colours somewhat from those in the picture!  As my design process progressed, I was inspired to follow the picture quite literally and so created the impression of twin beds.  As the picture also made me think of linen and stitching, I decided to add faux stitching on my card too.

I used ProMarkers, Copics and Spica glitter pens to colour this gorgeous mermaid in shades of pale blue and green.  This lovely girl is from the March WIS Kit - the monthly WIS Kits are available from the QKD Store.

As the overall colour scheme of my project is very pastel and pale, I decided I wanted to add a 'surprise' focal textured element.  I created this by applying some fabulous heart shaped translucent glitter, from Martha Stewart, to her tail and top.  I love the glittery effect and the way the light bounces off at different angles.

For the background I selected two designs of stripey paper from the 'Summer' double-sided pack by Three Bugs in a Rug.  I used the narrower stripe to create the impression of two beds, which I attached over the wider striped base layer.  I then cut two smaller rectangles from the same paper, turned them over to show the plain orange surface and attached these on foam pads, raised up as 'pillows'.  I added faux stitching around the layers with a gold ProMarker pen.

Finally, I created the sentiment on my computer and attached this and two small puffed heart-shaped  'pillows', both with a touch of crystal Stickles added then dusted with Glamour Dust, for extra sparkle.  The finished design shows this lovely girl lounging on her bed, relaxing and dreaming of ?... who knows what ..... or who!!

I hope you've enjoyed viewing my card today and I'm now sending you hopping along on your way to Steph's blog - I know she will amaze you with her awesome and inspiring project today, so have fun and prepare to be inspired ....  Also, don't forget that there will be another Hop tomorrow when the rest of the DT will share their creations with you, just start at the QKD blog and follow the links.

Just before you leave, I'd just like to remind you that over in the QKD Store most stamps are on Sale with a 40% discount - how great is that?  As well as the new release stamps that the DT have been introducing to you with our projects this month, there were even more fabulous new stamps released last week.  Why not check them out and grab a few bargains in the Store before the sale ends on 31 March - an opportunity like this is just too good to miss!

Feedback is always fabulous to receive and I would be so happy if you left me a comment before you hop along today - I look forward to welcoming you back again next monday when we'll be hopping again!

Chocolates By The Sea Shore

I can't believe that yet another wednesday has rolled in!  and it's the middle of March already, where do the weeks go to eh?  They say "time flies when you're having fun" it just goes to show how much fun I am having working with the delicious Queen Kat Design stamps and the fantastically talented ladies who make up the rest of the Design Team!

My regular visitors will know that every wednesday I spotlight one of my projects on the Whimsical Ink Sorority (WIS) blog for Queen Kat Designs.  I also like to show the project here on my blog too, that way my regular visitors and those who visit the WIS blog both get to see my projects each week.

Today's project isn't a card - but it does have a birthday link!  One of my lovely friends is going to have a birthday next month and I thought I'd like to make her a little 'something special' to go with her card.  What better than the combination of Belgian chocolate shells and one of Maigan Lynn's beautiful mermaids?  This little beauty is called 'By the Sea Shore' - isn't she just adorable?  What's even better is that she is available in the QKD Store with a massive 40% off the price!  How good is that?  If you want to take a look and maybe slip her into your shopping cart here's the direct link.

I used a C6 cello bag to hold the chocolates and created a closure for the top with a piece of aqua coloured card which I punched along the bottom with a Martha Stewart border punch.  On top of this I added a strip of paper from the DCWV Pocket Full of Posies pad, which again I edged with the same border punch.  Over the two layers of card, I wrapped a length of dark blue organza ribbon and tied it in a bow offset to the right.  Before I tied the bow I incorporated a couple of lengths of fine pearl beading, just to add a little contrasting colour over the ribbon.  Either side of the bow, I attached some small blue paper roses.

I cut out the image with a nestabilities deckle edge oval die and attached this over a layer cut from dark blue metallic card, with a slightly larger die from the same set.  I coloured the image with Copics and Promarkers, adding a little Spica glitter pen in dark blue and clear to parts of the image.  I decided to use different shades of blue for the shells and plants which surround her rather than introducing too many different colours.  I really love this stamp as it can be used in so many different ways.

I hope you've enjoyed viewing my project today and that you'll visit again soon as I will have more projects on here to share with you.  Although I do put my WIS projects on here, it is well worth a visit to the WIS Blog as every day there are new and exciting projects displayed to inspire you.
Just before you go, I'd just like to remind you again of the fabulous sale running over in the QKD Store right now, 40% off most of the stamps in the Store - an offer too good to miss if you ask me!!   There are also new stamps being released today, so well worth a visit to the Store to see what's available.

Thanks again for visiting and if you'd care to leave me feedback I would be so happy - I love reading all your comments!

Happy Hop Day!

Welcome to today's Queen Kat Designs Monday Blog Hop, it's so nice to have you joining in today, myself and all the DT really enjoy creating our projects to share with you each week.

I hope you arrived here via Penny's Blog, but if you came here first, this is great but you wouldn't want to miss any of the fabulous creations from other members of the DT would you?  So, please hop back to the start on the QKD Blog and follow the links from there so you get to see all the projects on your way, I'm sure you'll find lots to inspire you.

The DT brief for this week was to use the colour combo Green, Blue and Orange - not a combination I've used much before, but I have to say it was fun!

I decided to make a Tent card  (tutorial here)for today's project and used the Tilly Mermaid stamp which is available in the QKD Store*  Tent cards are relatively easy to make and the final result is quite different to a regular flat card, but it still folds flat for mailing easily.

Tilly is a sweet and sultry girl, sitting alone on her rock, deep in thought and surrounded by beautiful aquatic plants.  The orange shades I used, I think, are reminiscent of corals and shells.
The aperture and frame were created using Spellbinders Nestabilities dies and the image was cut out using a smaller die from the set.  The image layer is small enough to 'float' inside the aperture, suspended from the frame and attached by metal rings.  This can be seen a little clearer in the side-on picture on the right.

I punched some large and small flowers from white card, then coloured them with the same shades of ProMarkers, to match the colours used on the stamped image.  The flowers on the top left are all from my stash, as is the green metallic rik-rac ribbon.  I finally added a little Crystal Stickles to the flowers and parts of the background paper to add a little sparkle.

* Whooo....Hooo.... there's a great sale going on in the QKD Store right now, a whopping 40% off the price of stamps from now til 31 March 2010 - so what are you waiting for?  This is a great opportunity to add, not only Tilly, but lots of other stamps to your stash at reduced prices - not only that, there are fabulous new stamps being released on wednesday!

I'm now sending you on your way to see the fabulous creation that Steph has to share with you today.  Don't forget the Tuesday Blog Hop tomorrow when the rest of the QKD DT will have many more projects to share with you.  Just start at the QKD Blog and follow the links from there.

I look forward to welcoming you back again for next Monday's Hop when I will have another QKD creation for you to see.  All the DT love to receive feedback and it is great fun reading your comments, I love to hear what my visitors have to say!

Sorry!

When I recently went away on holiday, I had planned to post a birthday card to my pal who's birthday was the day after we arrived home.  Unfortunately, I didn't remember to post it until I was on the way to the airport - which of course was too late!!  To make amends, I decided to create another special 'sorry it's late' card to send to her instead.

Vicki has set all of us on the QKD DT a private crop challenge over the last few days and as the theme is to make a 'belated' card using the colour orange, this was just perfect for the card for my pal!  So this is also my entry for the crop.

I used this lovely 'Peace of Mind' Mermaid from Queen Kat Designs for the card - by the way, all the stamps in the QKD Store have 40% off from now until 31 March - a great time to add to your collection of QKD stamps.

I love these warm and sunny colours and as it is supposed to be almost Spring, I thought they were ideal for this March birthday card.  I coloured the image with ProMarkers and added a little Spica glitter pen in orange and clear to give her a little sparkle.  The butterfly is one of the accessory stamps from the QKD March WIS Kit and ideal to use with this Mermaid.

I created the sentiment on my computer and printed it in orange ink to match the colour scheme.  I hope she is going to like it and I will be putting in in the mail tomorrow.

Thanks for visiting and allowing me to share this card with you, I hope you'll stop by again tomorrow and join in with the QKD Monday Blog Hop.

Mouserkin on the Moon

Sorry it's been a little quiet on here for the past couple of weeks - I was away on holiday for a few days.  Thank you for continuing to visit and view the cards I set to autopost while I was away, I do appreciate you leaving me all those lovely comments for when I got home, I enjoyed reading them so much.

Although it was nice to get away for a break, I have to say that I really missed my crafting and couldn't wait to get busy as soon as I could after I got home!

I hope to just scrape inside the deadline for he week #93 Sketch Saturday challenge - I especially wanted to enter as they are offering a fabulous new hAnglar and stAnglar stamp as a prize.  I love their stamps and they are unavailable to buy unless you live in Sweden or Norway.  I now have my fingers crossed that my card might be the winning entry!!!

For my card I used one of the Faerie Song Art Stamps Mouserkins, I just adore this set of stamps they are way beyond cute and a delight to colour.  I used ProMarkers to colour this image and cut it out using an inverted scallop circle nestabilities die.  The background papers are from the 'Honey and Hugs' paper pad by Papermania.  The white pearls where in my stash and I love this simple layout which spotlights the stamped image so well.

I do hope you've enjoyed viewing this card and, now that I'm back home, I hope to have many more to share with you over the coming week.

Lovely in Lime and Pink

Come on in!  It's great to have you here today and I hope you enjoy your visit !  Every wednesday I spotlight one of my projects on the Queen Kat Designs Whimsical Ink Sorority Blog, but I also like to share the project on here with my regular visitors.  The WIS Blog is always worth a visit as a member of the DT post up amazing projects to inspire you every day, Wednesday is my day.

For the whole of this month I am designing my projects using the fabulous March Monthly WIS Kit from Queen Kat Designs.  I just love this kit, the main image is so beautiful and the butterfly stamp and mixture of sentiments is just so useful for many occasions.

Today I decided to work with a citrusy/icecreamy/Spring like pallet of colours.  This lovely background paper comes from the Papermania 6x6 'Honey & Hugs' paper pad and I just love these yummy colours and designs, so fresh and 'clean' looking.

I coloured the image with Copics and ProMarkers and added lots of clear Spica glitter pen to her hair and tail.  I think the pink shades work so well with the lime greens on her tail and she looks amazing with her pale lime green hair!

I have had this length of lime and pink ribbon in my stash for quite some time, just waiting for the perfect project to use it on - well this one just called out for it to be added!

I cut out the flowers with a spellbinders shapeabilities flower die from a scrap of pink floral paper from the same pad and just left the centres of each one open rather than adding brads or beads, as I liked the effect of the hole in the middle.  I stamped up another of the sentiments from the Kit in pink chalk ink, punched it out with a round punch and dragged the same ink pad around the edges.

Thank you so much for visiting today and allowing me to share my project with you, I would be so happy if you left me feedback, I love reading your comments.  Do join me again next Wednesday either here or on the WIS Blog as I shall have another project to share with you.

Purple WIS Haze

Hop.....hop.....hop.... so happy to have you hopping by today.  Hope you are finding lots of inspiration along the way on the QKD Monday Blog Hop.  You should have arrived here via Penny's blog, but if not I am sure you'll want to head back to the QKD blog where you'll find the full list of links for the Hop.  That way you won't miss any of the amazing projects created by the DT for you today using more of the newly released stamps from Queen Kat Designs, just follow the links as you hop along.

If you joined in the hop last week and/or visited the WIS blog, you will know that I have the new March WIS Kit to design with for the whole of this month - how lucky am I?

This new Kit is totally awesome and I am so in love with this fabulous mermaid!  I coloured her with Copics and ProMarkers and added a little silver ProMarker to various parts of the image.

I found this lusciously seductive lacy effect purple background paper in my stash and a scrap of the striped paper which colour matches it perfectly.  I think this mermaid looks fabulous in shades of purple and mauve and the effect is so different to the yellows of my project from last monday.

We had a sketch to work with again this week and I decided to replace one of the buttons on the left hand side with one of the sentiments from the Kit, cut out with a small circle nestabilities die and a little purple chalk ink rubbed over the surface.

A short length of purple grosgrain ribbon was the final embellishment I added and I think this simple layout showcases the main image perfectly.

I'm now sending you on your way to Steph's blog as she has a fabulous creation to share with you today, showcasing another of the newly released QKD stamps this month.

If you've enjoyed viewing my project and want to get the March WIS Kit in your stamp collection, hurry over to the QKD Store, the monthly WIS Kits sell out really fast and you don't want to miss this one!

Birthday Boy 6

Thank you so much for visiting today - I am especially happy as today is my Birthday!!!!  I'm hoping that my DH will be whisking me off for a lovely meal this evening to celebrate!

It is my youngest Grandson's 6th birthday on 13 March and this is the card I have made for him.  I do hope he likes it, the image reminds me so much of him.  He is such a cheeky character and always getting into scrapes and mischief!!  The little dog on the back of the bike looks like my Grandsons' dog Disco so this stamp by Lili of the Valley is the perfect image to use for his card.  My crafting pal Annie was kind enough to let me stamp this image from her stamp stash recently but I think I'll be adding him to my own stash very soon!

The background papers are magazine freebies, as is the birthday boy sentiment.  The chipboard number 6 was in my stash but it was white, so I coloured it with an orange ProMarker and added Glossy Accents over the top.

I coloured the image with ProMarkers and added Glossy Accents to the bike frame to make it 'pop'.

This is a very simple layout but I am very pleased with the final result!

Hope you'll be back again soon when I will have more projects to share with you.

Float Like a Butterfly......

Good morning and welcome!

Today I am sharing with you a card I've created using the newly released March WIS Kit from Queen Kat Designs.  My regular visitors will know that every Wednesday I post up a project I've created using QKD stamps on the Whimsical Ink Sorority Blog.  I also like to share it on here too each week.

This new March Kit is so fabulous and I am mega-excited to have been given the kit to work with for the whole month!

If you joined in with the QKD Blog Hop on monday, you will have seen the card I created in those lovely Spring colours using the new Kit stamps.  It's not too late to take part in the Hop, just pop over to the QKD Blog and follow the links as you hop along.

For today's card I decided to simply stamp the main image on to plain white vellum using white chalk ink, then heat embossing it with clear embossing powder.  I normally have lots of colour on my projects, but I really wanted to try something different this week.

I cut an aperture in the front of the base card using a scalloped rectangle spellbinders nestabilities die and placed the stamped vellum panel behind the aperture.  On the inside of the card I added a layer of dark grey paper to act as a contrast panel behind the stamped image when the card is closed.  To complete the vellum panel, I added three clear gems in each corner.

The black and white paper was in my stash and I cut a strip for each side and punched the edges with a Martha Stewart lacy edge punch.  I cut the flowers with a nestabilities die and added a flower bead to the centre of each.

I stamped one of the sentiments from the Kit on to a scrap of white card and cut it out with a petite scallop circle nestie die.  I then used Distress Ink in Black Soot to colour the layer and added a small metal butterfly charm that I found in my stash.

I do hope you've enjoyed viewing my project today, do check out the WIS Blog and all the amazing projects the DT share on there, you're bound to be inspired!
