Stitchin' for ma Kitchin' ... Oh and a bit of Knittin' !

The christmas and new year celebrations are well and truly over, life is settling back down to 'normal' and so my sewing machine has come out to 'play' again - Yay !

Whilst doing the extra cooking over the holiday period, I decided I really needed some hot pot pads/trivets on which to set pots and pans down to save the worktops.  So, I dug out some bits of fabric and batting and made myself a couple of fabric pads - as my kitchen colours are cream, black and red I decided to use the red gingham and calico fabrics I had in my stash.

Here's a couple of pix of the results of my 'labours'
I love this method of creating a coaster/mat and I think the red gingham fabric looks great with the calico.

And now for the knittin'

I've been busy over the christmas holiday knitting a cardigan for a friend's LO, the yarn I'm using is  lovely soft and cuddly and pink !  so pretty.   I've almost finished the cardi now and here's a sneaky peek of it under construction.

Thanks for dropping by to check out my latest projects, I've a card to share with you next time, another quilt I've just finished as a gift for a lovely pal and a round cushion - to make the chair I sit in to sew more comfortable - which I'll share with you over the next few days.  Hope you'll be back to check out my new projects soon.

If you are starting back to work/school tomorrow after the holidays, good luck !

Great idea to adapt the coasters you made earlier and turn them into trivit pads. That cardigan looks delightful, a very pretty pattern too.

Catch up with you soon x

ingenious as always Wynnethy! and that pretty pink cardi looks adorable. I finally got my owl hand warmers finished and they are great for gardening .. .. but still haven't sewn the buttons for eyes .. .. probably wont bother as they might catch on the shrubbery!
Will give you a call as I'm in need of more SU card and wonder if you need to top up this month?
hugs, annie x

OOOOOOH! Wynneth the cardigan looks amazing! So glad to have spotted this, you are soo clever. The pattern is just perfect and I just know she will want to wear it every day. The colour is spot on and it does indeed look super soft. You are so kind doing this for me, I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it.
Your pot table protectors look great, a great way to use up left over squares. Another quilt ay? There's no stopping you is there? I can't wait to see the cushion too, a girl should deffinitely sew in comfort.
Ooh you made my day, very excited to see it now.
Have an awesome week, craft filled I hope?
