Chinese Tilda

When this gorgeous new magnolia stamp arrived in the post, I just couldn't wait to get my Chinese Tilda inked up, she's just so adorable.  Last week on the Craft Mad and Loving It group on Craftbubble the sketchie challenge included creating your own background papers.  I've had this fibre material in my stash for absolutely ages - I think it was made from banana leaves, but can't be completely certain after such a long time!  Suffice it to say that it is very interesting material to work with!

I spritzed the fibre with glimmer mists and cut out a piece to fit my base card but maintaining the natural shaped edge at the bottom.  I added the fibre layer to a plain white 5x5 card as I wanted to keep the design as 'clean' as possible so that the hand made background and the image were more prominent.  I coloured the image with Copics, although I only have a very few colours to work with as I mostly use Promarkers.  The sentiment is from a set of clear stamps by Kanban and I thought it worked well with this image and layout.  I added  a piece of scrappers' floss which matched the colour palette I've used and attached it with staples.  I then punched out a large retro flower and a smaller one from white card and coloured to match the image with Copics.  The small mauve/beige half pearl just finishes off the flower perfectly I think.

Thanks for dropping by my blog, I hope you've enjoyed today's project.  That's all from me, so until I see you again - Happy Crafting!
