It's not long til Fathers' Day now, so I thought I'd make a card for my lovely and incredibly talented Dad as my entry for the Let's Get Stamping sketchie challenge over on Craftbubble this week. There's a great sketch to work with and this week's twist is 'edges'. We are asked to use different techniques to decorate the edges of our layers.
As we are experiencing (most days!) nice summery weather, my thoughts turned towards picnics and BBQs when planning my design for this card. I selected this sweet hAnglar & stAnglar image as I love his basket full of yummy food and thought it fitted well with my theme. I coloured the image with Copics and ProMarkers and added some Sepia Glossy Accents on his basket.
The background papers are from the Nana'a Kitchen pad from DCWV and with their kitchen and BBQ theme, absolutely ideal for my card. I then distressed the edges of all the layers with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink from Tim Holtz. I punched out the butterflies from white card with a Martha Stewart small butterfly punch, then coloured them with a Pumpkin ProMarker to match the colour theme. Finally I added more of the Sepia Glossy Accents around the edges of all the layers and over the butterflies and around the edge of the sentiment, which I printed on my computer.
I do hope my Dad likes his card and I hope I can keep him away from the Craftbubble site after I post it up on there, so he doesn't see it before Fathers' Day!!
Thanks for stopping by today, hope you had lovely time, it was great seeing you :o)
