Sugar Bowl Challenge #42
Good morning dear reader, now that the last Bank Holiday of the year is well and truly over, I'm really getting into the swing of creating the christmas cards I need for this year.
Sugar Bowl, challenge #42 gives us the great sketch on the right to work with and a theme of 'pearls'.
I do love to work with simple sketches as I think they give you so much scope to let your creativity run wild! I turned the sketch round by 90 degrees to balance the image I chose a little better as it is quite tall and narrow.
This sweet Sugar Nellie 'Snow Family' image is just perfect for my project and rather than solid strips I decided to use some decorative pieces which I'd punched using a Martha Stewart snowflake border punch. I coloured the image with Copics, although I have very few colours I had sufficient to get the shading right for this image. The bits to create the poinsettia were in my stash from last Christmas and I added one of the new sparkly brads I just recently acquired. The sentiment was also in my box of bits and I cut it out with a small circle nestabilties die and added three small blue half pearls, which fits right in with the theme. I inked up the edges of both image layer and the sentiment with Stormy Skies Distress Ink. Glossy Accents added to their carrot noses and Stardust Stickles to their buttons and around the edges of the image layer and my card was finished.
I hope you've enjoyed seeing today's card and that you'll stop by again soon.
