Sugar Bowl Challenge #43
Over on the Sugar Bowl blog, Challenge #43 this week has a truly scrumptious prize for the lucky winner. How would you like to get your inky mits on either the 4 new Sugar Nellie Country Cousins stamps, which are just about to be launched, or all 4 of the Sugar Nellie Manga Christmas stamps? How could a girl choose between these two fabulous prizes? But it doesn't stop there.. Oh no! whichever set of stamps the winner chooses, they will also get a whole bundle of sweet Papermania goodies, including 2 sets of ‘sentiments’ rubber stamps and a selection of ‘monochrome capsule collection’ embellishments including glitter, buttons, bows and bling! Bet you're drooling all over your keyboard just reading this?
Well, all you have to do to be in with a chance to win is to create a project using the sketch on the right. Your project must contain a Sugar Nellie image and you have the option to include 'Buttons' in your design. Check out all the details on the Sugar Bowl blog.
For my entry I chose the lovely Raven from the Sugar Nellie Country Cousins range which are available through Funky Kits. Isn't she adorable all bundled up and cosy against the Autumn winds?
I have been using Promarkers and Copics such a lot on my work lately that I thought I'd do something different for a change and used Distress Inks to watercolour the image. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy this method of colouring and you may see some more of my work done using these inks, especially now that there are so many more colours available. I cut out the image, added some glossy accents to her wellies and buttons and affixed her to the green circle layer using Pinflar Glue, with more glue behind her feet to raise them to give the impression that she's walking out of the card.
My background paper is from a pad by Laura Ashley on which I stamped various swirls in Rich Cocoa Memento ink. The plain circle and tabs are cut from some lovely pearly dark green card which is one of my favourites bought at the NEC craft show last March. I stamped a swirling leaf image by Magnolia around the edges of the green layer with the same cocoa ink which gives a very subtle effect. I added the green layer over red card cut with a nestabilities petite scallop circle die which was just slightly larger than the plain circle die I used for the green layer. The sentiment is by Magnolia, red half beads were in my stash, as were the three buttons and I added some Holly Stickles around the edge of the green circle to finish.
I'm entering this for Sugar Bowl Challenge #43, so wish me luck!

Oh Wynneth this is gorgeous. Lovely coloured image and great swirls on the dp.
We had a great time in Pentewan. It remained dry and sunny - shame the wind was blustery off the sea! Going back down again hopefully next June again and some other friends want to come down with us this time!
Good luck and got my fingers crossed.
