Christmas Gift Bags

Happy Saturday dear friends, I hope you've survived the wonderful festive craziness - all that fabulous food and time with family and friends for many of us.  I always spare a thought for those less fortunate, who may be spending Christmas alone, sick or homeless and give thanks for the Blessing of my family and friends - and not just for the holiday season.

The sun is shining in my little part of Cornwall at the moment, such a welcome change after the last couple of days of rain and dark skies, we are luckier than many parts of the UK who have had snow overnight - stay safe if you are affected by snow and ice in your part of the World.

The project I'm sharing with you today is a set of gift bags I created to give to some of my pals as wee Christmas gifts.

Here they are nestled under my mini tree
and a close up shot of a couple of them

I sewed the bags using some Christmas fabric I had in my stash and added silky red cord for a tie.

The gift tags were created using the large tag die from the Stampin'Up! 'Chalk Talk' stamp and die bundle.  The sentiment and snowflake were from a set of Sizzix HeroArt stamps and dies, stamped with SU! white ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  The bags contained some yummy chocolates for the festive season.

I'm looking forward to getting my new (Christmas Pressie) sewing machine onto the table today and having a lovely play and 'get to know you' session with it.  I have a project in mind for today, again using up some fabric scraps.... watch this space.

Have a great day, whatever you have planned.

Gold and Gems

Hi there Crafters, I have just a quick post for you today as I'm up to my elbows in wrapping paper !

I created a base card from gold cardstock just a small 4.5 x 3 inch size - not so good for sending through Royal Mail but fine for hand delivery.

Using Memory Box dies I cut two layers from gold mirri board and layered them up.  The scrap of pretty gold ribbon was from my stash and the gorgeous gold gem added over the top was also from my stash.

I heat embossed the Merry Christmas sentiment using black sparkle embossing powder.

That's it from me today, short and sweet - I hope you like today's card.

A Winter Scene

Hi folks, yet another Christmas card to share with you today, this is one of another small batch I made recently.

I've used another of my stash of festive embossing folders, I love this little Winter scene.  I embossed the front of a C6 card with the folder which left enough room at the bottom for a sentiment.

The sentiment is from a set of stamps and dies by Sizzix as is the snowflake stamp.  I cut out the sentiment layer using a SU! scallop circle punch.

Finally adding a few touches of Stardust Stickles over the snowflakes for a bit of sparkle.

Another CAS style card, a style which I'm still loving and, as I send a lot of my cards through the post, these need only a standard price postage stamp and there are no lumps or bumps to upset the machines in the sorting office.

Thanks for dropping by to check on today's project.  I haven't done a lot of card making in the past couple of weeks as I've been staying with my Dad, but I have been busy knitting - can't have idle hands after all !

Have a Jolly Holiday

I thought I'd share another of my recently made batches of Christmas cards with you today.

This one is a very simple design using C6 white base card, holly sprig embossing folder and a sentiment from a Sizzix stamp and die set, stamped using green ink - job done !

I was thinking of adding a little 'bling' with touches of Stickles, but decided my design needed nothing else, do you agree ?

Thanks for dropping by to check my latest project, I hope you like it.

Cosy Mittens

I'm sharing another little batch of Christmas cards with you today.  I'm liking the CAS style right now plus embossed backgrounds, so today's design incorporates both these styles.

I embossed the front of C6 base cards with this fun Christmas folder.  Using a set of stamp and dies from Sizzix/HeroArts I stamped the cosy mittens image using SU! inks in Raspberry Ripple and Baja Breeze then cut out with the matching dies.  I joined each pair of mittens with a length of twine and added a touch of Stardust Stickles on the cuffs.

The sentiment and snowflake stamps are from the same set as the mittens and sentiment .  Using a SU! punch I cut out scalloped circles from white card and stamped the sentiment and snowflakes using black ink.  Finally adding a touch of Stickles on each snowflake for added sparkle.

The mittens and sentiment were attached using Pinflair glue to give them a little dimension.

Thanks for taking the time to visit I hope you liked today's project.

Santa's Little Helper

Hi Folks, I've another Christmas card to share with you today I'm afraid !  I just love this cute Elf  stamp from Penny Black.

I'd stamped and coloured this cute chap some months ago during a crafting weekend with my lovely pal, the Purple Princess (aka Kathy).

I came across the ready coloured image when I was sorting through my Christmas card making bits and bobs and decided he definitely needed to be turned into a card.

It's a nice large image and I decided a simple layout would work best.  I just matted the image over a layer of red cardstock and attached this over a piece of red and white patterned paper that I found in my stash.  I used a plain 6 x 6 base card.

The sentiment is a Little Claire's image, stamped in red and cut out using a Spellbinders scalloped circle die.

As a final touch of sparkle, I added Stardust Stickles to his hat trim and bobble and Glossy Accents to his fabby green boots and the ribbon around the gift.

One more card added to my Christmas stock for this year.  I hope you like today's project and have enjoyed your visit today, thanks for taking the time to drop by.

A Festive Batch

Hiya Folks, just a quick post from me today, well it's the start of the weekend and I have a very busy time in the next couple of days.  My Dad is going home tomorrow... sniff..sniff !  I shall miss having him around, he's also my crafting buddy and we've had lots of fun with my stash whilst he's been here for the past month.  I'll be seeing him again in November, so not too long till we get together again, he says everyone at his 'Bingo Club' have been missing him, Bless !  I'll post up some of his creations on here so you can see what he's been up to, we tried a few different techniques and stretched him out of his 'comfort zone' on occasions !  Well, he's only 87 years young, so lots of new learning is good for him LOL

It recently dawned on me that Christmas isn't too far away now - I know, scary isn't it !

Anyway, with panic setting in I realised that I have fallen woefully behind with my plans to get at least a couple of Christmas cards made each week all through the year - to avoid the crazy frantic rush in October/November.  I decided batch making is the way forward, using designs that don't take hours to complete each one and are easy to duplicate.

I do have a large stash of Christmas stamps, embossing folders and dies - in fact I realised (with a little embarrassment) that if I made just one card using each of my Christmas stamps I would have sufficient to send a card to everyone on my list, how naughty am I ?   I'll work my way through my stash as best I can and am sticking to my resolve to not buy any new stamps this year - it's not easy though as there are some lovely new images around ... Ah well, got to stay strong Ha Ha !

A little earlier this year my crafting pal Lynn, managed to buy two sets of the gorgeous Stampin'Up! snowflake embossing folder and snowflake dies - been there, done that myself !  Purely to help her out (of course) I bought the duplicates from her.  I used the embossing folder on today's project to create the lovely subtle snowflake effect on the base card.

The tiny village image was stamped using a Sweet Poppy stamp, coloured with my ProMarkers and then diecut using the matching die.  I think this image is so pretty and it was easy to colour.  The sweet little sentiment is from a set of See D's stamps - remember these from years ago ?  Each set of stamps was sold in a CD case, they were made from purple rubber and are (I think) one of the first self-cling products (please correct me if I'm wrong on this).  This Christmas set was in my stash and had never seen ink.  I thought the tiny sentiment was the perfect size for my design and made me feel good to ink an unused stamp.

Here's a pic of the full batch of six I made this time, although I am so pleased with the finished design I shall definitely go on and make another batch of them to add to my stock of cards for this Christmas.

Hope you've enjoyed your visit today and like today's project, I'm sure I'll be sharing lots more Christmas designs over the coming weeks.  Thanks for dropping by today and have a great day whatever you have planned.

Cute Snowman or Stan Laurel ?

As I'm sitting writing this post, the rain is lashing down (just for a change) and it's blowing a gale outside.  I'm so sick of the rain I tell you, can't wait for some nice Spring weather.

With it being so cold and wintry outdoors I thought I'd share another Christmas card with you.  I made this one whilst with my pals at our regular weekly crafting get together.  We all used the same stamp set but each of our cards turned out really differently.

This is one more to add to my stock for this year, I am slowly building up my stock but not meeting my personal goal of making at least two cards each week.

The stamp set we used is one of my favourite by Inkadinkado, so many great stamps in the set, it was hard to chose which one to work with.  I love this happy Snowman - I do think he looks like Stan Laurel from Laurel and Hardy though, what do you think ?  Do you agree or am I totally bonkers ?  This could be another fine mess I've got you into ! Ha Ha !

The stamps are clear acrylic and I do find that very detailed images on acrylic are best stamped using Archival ink.  I stamped him onto white card, added a little clear Wink of Stella to parts of the image - which adds a subtle twinkly sheen - pretty IRL but difficult to capture in a pic.

After cutting the image out I mounted it on a scrap of SU! Baja Breeze cardstock and used a small strip of the same cardstock to layer over the pretty blue checked paper strip across the middle.

I confess that I added the sentiment once I was back at home, I thought it needed a little something more to complete the design.  The sentiment is from a set by Little Claire's and I stamped it using SU! Baja Breeze ink, punched it out with a circle punch and added a little of the Wink of Stella pen on bits of the image.  I then attached it to the card with Pin Flair glue to give it dimension.

I do so hope that you are experiencing better weather than we are here in the South West of the UK and to all those in flood warning areas, I hope you manage to stay safe through these storms.  Tomorrow I'm due to travel to Mullion for a workshop at Scrapbook Magic, the weather forecast isn't good so we could be in for an uncomfortable journey.  My pal Linda is driving so I'll be able to save my energy for the workshop.  Wish us Luck !

Thank you so much for visiting to check out my latest project, hope you enjoyed your visit and do drop by again any time, it's great to 'see' you - I do check my blog's background statistics and I know that I receive lots of visitors, thank you all.

Boxing Day - Second Post Today

Hi there Bloggers, hope you are having a great Boxing Day (26th December to those of you not in the UK).

Boxing Day in my home is a very chilled out relaxed day, leftovers from yesterday's turkey dinner, homemade soup and for dessert ?  a slice of Christmas cake as we were far too full to eat any of it yesterday.

A group of my online (and occasionally IRL) crafting pals do a Secret Santa gift exchange each Christmas and we each share pix of our received gift on Boxing Day.

Here's a pic of my (unwrapped) SS giftie received - what yummy packaging, almost too good to unwrap.

and here's the fabby contents of the package

What a great mask/stencil - I can't wait to play with it, it's going to be fabulous for using on Art Journal pages and for created background layers etc.  Love the little music stamp, again I can see loads of uses for it and the SMASH Book notes are super and will be appearing in a SB very soon I think ;o)

Thank you so much Secret Santa x

Just for the record, here's the SS gift I sent out

Enjoy the rest of your day

Happy Christmas !

Happy Christmas Day dear Bloggers, I do hope you have a wonderful day to look forward to.

I understand that Christmas can be a difficult time for many people.  Those who have lost loved ones or are far away from them, the many lonely people who are spending today alone and those who are coping with illness themselves or watching their loved ones suffer - my thoughts are with you and my heart goes out to you.

To everyone, I send Love and Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas.

Today, I shall be sitting down to eat Christmas dinner with my Hubby, Son and Dad.  This year there are empty seats at the table compared to previous years and we will all feel the loss today.  We shall have a lovely turkey dinner, eat far too much, but have a great day together.

I made these little treat boxes to put on our festive table and filled them with yummy chocolates.

Again I've used my We R Memory Keeps pillow box scoreboard and Clearly Besotted Stamps stamp set and matching dies and scraps of SU! Baja Breeze cardstock to diecut the scarves.  SU! Peach Parfait ink to stamp the noses and BB ink for the buttons and scarf pattern.

A set of Penny Black banner stamps and SU! Baja Breeze ink on white cardstock for the sentiments.

Enjoy your day and if you have taken the time to visit my Blog today, thank you so much I really appreciate it.

Inkadinka Reindeer

Morning Peeps !   Just two more sleeps until the Big Day, is your life calm and already organised or still full of craziness and frenzied preparation ?  My world fits into the second category, but then it generally does so why would it be different at this even busier time of the year ha ha !

Today I'm sharing (yet another) Christmas card I made for this year

I created the base card using some nice heavy weight cardstock which is a little more 'marsh' green than kraft, but makes a lovely sturdy card.  It's C6 size but with the fold at the top.

The lovely lacy reindeer image is from a set of stamps by Inkadinkado, which I've had for a few years now and never tire of.  Stamped with Versamark and heat embossed using gold sparkle embossing powder.

I then mounted the white image layer over a slightly larger piece of red mirri card and attached to the base card.

The sentiment was stamped from one of my current favourite sets by Penny Black.  Stamped using SU! Raspberry Ripple ink.

That's it from me, I'll leave you to continue with your Christmas preparations if you are like me, or continue to relax if you are completely organised !

More Pillows - Can You Ever Have Too Many ? !

Happy Saturday Bloggers - as it's the last weekend before the Christmas holidays I expect you'll be busy, busy, busy today !   I'm away from home, collecting my Dad to come and spend Christmas with us so I'm mega excited as I love to have him here with me.

As part of the journey to collect Dad, I'll also be visiting my Daughter and seeing my Grandsons, which will be a bittersweet moment as it's going to be the very first Christmas day that I won't be seeing my Daughter since the day she was born, and the first Christmas that I haven't spent time with my Grandsons.  A very different Christmas for me this year, but my Son will be here with me as well as my Dad and Hubby, so I realise how Blessed I am compared to many people.

I've pre-scheduled this post as I'm travelling so hope it publishes OK !

So, without further ado, let's get on to today's project, which is a couple more of the pillow box treat holders, which I've been really enjoying making since I bought my We R Memory Keepers score board.

Once again I've used some of this fabby text printed white cardstock which is perfect for box making.

I also used the set of stamps and matching dies I purchased recently from Clearly Besotted Stamps.  I'm just loving them, all of the stamps and accessories are so cute and the dies cut very well - I can see endless permutations for future projects using them.

I've used the cute reindeer image for these boxes.  Firstly diecutting the shape and then stamping the image onto it using SU! Raspberry Ripple ink.

The banner was also stamped with the RR ink using one of the stamps from a Penny Black stamp set, cut out and adhered to the pillow box.

That's it from me today, short and sweet - hope you enjoyed your visit today, thanks so much for popping over here to my little bit of Blogland.

A Herd of Reindeer

Good Morning Peeps !  I hope you are well and having a good day.

Today the project I'm sharing is the last batch make of Christmas cards for this year.

This is just a small batch (5) of cards I made using a set of stamps and matching dies from Clearly Besotted.  I just love the fun images in this stamp set, there are so many different ways to use them with all the decorative options.  There are dies to match all the shapes, although the stamps can be used by themselves too.

Firstly I diecut the reindeer shape from white cardstock using my Big Shot, then stamped the reindeer image using Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto the shape.  I could have diecut the noses then stamped them with red and glued them on, but decided to just stamp them with red ink straight onto the already stamped reindeer image - this keeps the cards almost flat for mailing.  As the stamps are clear, it is really easy to line them up correctly for stamping onto the diecut shapes.

I then attached the reindeer over a layer of red, and slightly larger white layer,  before attaching to the kraft coloured base cards.

The sentiment was stamped using a set of Penny Black banner stamps (which I Lurve) using  SU! Raspberry Ripple ink.

Once again, a nice clean and simple design and using my current favourite colour combo of kraft, red and white.

Thanks for visiting today, have a great day.

With Love at Christmas

Good morning dear Bloggers.  Today I shall be finishing off the gift wrapping and writing my list for the last minute food shopping, which I'll need to do at the start of next week.  Not a lot of crafting time for me right now, but I have a few projects created over the past couple of weeks which I'll share with you in the coming days.  I warn you in advance that if you are in a state of  'Christmas card overload' my next few posts will probably make you groan !

Anyhoo, that said here's today's project

For this card I created the wreath using a Martha Stewart frond punch, punching out loads from two different colours of green cardstock. (whilst punching out the fronds, my MS punch broke into pieces - oh no !  it's one of my favourites and 'go to' punch for many uses.  I had to get online immediately to find a replacement, which luckily I did via Ebay although the seller was in the US.  It arrived very quickly which was fantastic).

I seem to be having a few 'disasters' with my crafting tools at the moment, managed to cut through my Splodge Mat last week at the workshop, and now  'exploding' my favourite punch !   Hopefully I won't destroy anything else - for a while at least !

As a base for the wreath I cut a scalloped circle using a nestie and a scrap of light greet card which had sparkly dots all over (if you look closely you can just see some of the dots).  I then glued each of the separate fronds around the edge, ensuring I kept to a circular shape, to create the wreath effect.  I worked round three times adding layers of fronds applying glue to just the bottom tip of each frond for the top two layers to create depth and dimension.

I added a bow at the top, tied using a small length of narrow ribbon.  The sentiment in the centre was stamped using a Little Claire's stamp and SU! Raspberry Ripple ink, the 'heart' shape in the centre coloured using a gold Wink of Stella pen.  Using Frosted Lace Stickles I then added a snow effect to the top layer of fronds.

Finally, I attached the wreath layer to the base card, which had been covered with a piece of red and white striped paper.

This is a very simple design, but I was pleased with the finished result.  As it's the card I made to give to my Hubby, it's not too 'fancy' or 'fussy' as he's not a fan of overly embellished cards.  He loved it, so that was a great result in my book !

Thanks for taking the time to check out my project today.  Have a great day.

A Winter Scene

Today has been a busy one for me, hence the lateness in posting my project today, apologies.

This project started out as an idea for a card but that's not how it finished up, as you can see !

I used a Dee's Distinctively die to cut out the pretty snow covered cottage, cutting the main house and chimney from SU! Crumbcake cardstock and the roof, door, window frames and top of the chimney from scraps of white card.

The trees were cut using a Marianne's die and I used a piece of magazine freebie paper for a background as it was pale blue (and sky-like) at the top with a strip of pattern towards the bottom.

It was at this point that I decided to turn my design into a framed scene so created a frame from a piece of heavier weight card which I covered with a sheet of paper from a Marianne's pack.

To embellish the frame I used more Marianne's dies to cut out a pine branch, pine cones and twiggy branch.  I dabbed SU! Whisper White ink onto the pine cones whilst they were still in the dies, to add a snowy effect.

The little fence on the right was also cut using a Marianne's die, as were the holly fronds.  The larger holly leaves and berries were stamped using a Reflections stamp onto kraft coloured cardstock then coloured using ProMarkers before fussy cutting out.  I added Glossy Accents to the berries to give them dimension.

I added Stardust and Frosted Lace Stickles on trees, leaves, pinecones, fence, roof of house etc to add to the snowy scene effect.

Finally I stamped the Clarity 'Happy Christmas' sentiment onto a scrap of Crumbcake cardstock using Raspberry Ripple ink, then cut it out freehand into a pleasing shape before attaching to the frame.  I've had a few chipboard easels in my stash for a while and decided to attach my Winter Scene to one of them.  It's now sitting on my mantelpiece alongside the Twelve Days of Christmas House and Advent Calendar I made recently  I'm sure it'll come out each Christmas for the next few years as one of the decorations.

Thanks for dropping by, hope you've enjoyed today's project.

Christmas Wreath

Good morning Bloggers, how's your day panning out ?  Here in my bit of Cornwall the day dawned dark and dismal, but it's a tad warmer than of late and at least it's dry - well not actually raining although it is damp.  I don't know about you but I find this type of weather very depressing, makes me want to turn on all the lights and do something nice like crafting or baking to fill the house with warm and delicious aromas !  What do you do on a dark and dismal day to cheer yourself up ?

I'm still slogging away making Christmas cards and today I'm sharing another one of my designs with you (I am now getting close to having enough finished cards for my needs I think, must do a recount of my stock)

I have made a batch of cards using this design, however it is a small batch as the design has lots of elements and it quite time-consuming !  Made just 6 of this particular design, although I had planned to make 10.

Firstly I cut out the twiggy circle using a Memory Box die, then cut out both the large and small Ivy corners using a set of Marianne's dies  - you can see these at top and bottom of the wreath.

I then created the poinsettias using a Nellie Snellen punch and emboss set and SU! Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green cardstock.  I built up the flowers with a green layer and two red layers, finishing off by adding a gold centre using a Waco Pearlmaker Pen.  These do require a longish period of drying time or the pearl centre squashes flat when stacked with other cards or mailed out.  This all added to the timescale for completing this particular batch of cards.

The fronds at each side of the flowers were punched from more of the Garden Green card and, sadly, whilst punching these out, my lovely (but very old) Martha Stewart punch broke into pieces Noooooo !  I use this particular punch a lot and just had to set about finding a replacement immediately.  After an online search I discovered one for sale on Ebay - unfortunately it is from the USA but the shipping costs weren't that bad.  Fingers crossed it will wing it's way to me quickly as I feel bereft without it !  Such a pity that I couldn't source one from a UK supplier as I do prefer to buy from British retailers whenever I can.

Finally, the sentiment in the centre was created using a Little Claire's stamp and SU! Cherry Cobbler ink, then cut out using a nestie which is the perfect fit.  The Merry Christmas at the bottom was stamped using a stamp from the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Alterations Blueprint Snowman stamp and die set.

Once again, a card with no Stickles on the design, however did that happen !!

Thanks for dropping by today, hope you've enjoyed your visit and that you'll be back again real soon.

Ho ! Ho ! Ho!

Good morning dear Bloggers, the sun is shining on my bit of Cornwall at the moment, but I don't know how long it will last.  I will be watching the Remembrance Service on TV this morning, but then have to knuckle down and work on a sewing project I need to have completed by next weekend.

Today's project is a Christmas card, I've made a few but still have lots more to do.

I decided on a nice simple design for this card, used the Santa Hat stamp from a set by Recollections - just love this stamp set as there's a fabby Candy Cane and Holly Leaf image in the set too.

I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto kraft coloured cardstock (I love the different effect you get with colouring on kraft there seems to be much more depth to the colours) coloured them with Promarkers before cutting out.

A little Stardust Stickles on the cuff and bobble to make them sparkle and then attached using Pin Flair Glue to give them dimension - first giving them a little curve by shaping with my fingers.

I hand wrote the Ho ! Ho! Ho ! sentiment as I couldn't find the stamp I wanted to use !  (note to self :  urgently sort out stamp stash).

That's it, simple, quick (apart from waiting for Stickles to dry) and I love the finished result.  I'll be making a few more like this one I think.

Thanks for dropping by my little bit of Blogland, I do appreciate your continued support.  Have a great day whatever you have planned.

I'm off to find my sewing machine now.

Tag You're It

Friday again and another weekend approaches.  I've been busy wrapping christmas gifts for the past couple of days inbetween shopping and the usual chores !  On sunday I'll be collecting my Dad for his usual christmas holiday with us and at the same time we'll do a gift exchange with my Bruv, so I needed to get some tags made.  I'm excited to see my Dad and once he's here it will definitely feel as if the christmas holidays have begun.

Here's a couple of tags I created using the fabulous mini blueprint stamp set from Stampendous and Tim Holtz - did I tell you how much I adore these stamps ?

Firstly I cut out tag shapes using a Marianne's Design die and white cardstock, I then stamped the cute snowman image on them with Stampin'Up! Cherry Cobbler ink.  Using a Marianne's snowflake die and Cherry Cobbler cardstock I cut out the little embellishments and attached with nice strong glue.  I think the ric-rac ribbon looks really cute and very festive on these little parcels.  They'll be under the tree for someone special in a few days time.

Thanks for visiting to check out my latest project.  I've been busy sewing again and will have some finished projects to share with you over the next few days.

Red and Blue for the Festive Season

Brrrrr... it's a bit 'parky' down here in my corner of Cornwall today, hope you're not too cold where you are.  Wrap up warm if you have to go out into the chill - luckily I'm able to stay in the warm at home today - not so luckily I'm tackling my mountain of ironing!  Still, once it's all done I think I'll have earned some crafting time, don't you ?

Well, I asked yesterday if you were sick of seeing Christmas cards and the comments I received said to 'keep 'em coming', soooo ...... here's another one for you.

Once again I've used the sweet winter season stamp from my Stampin'Up! hostess gift from last month with the pretty Baja Breeze ink.  I also used Baja Breeze cardstock to cut the holly spray and the scalloped base behind the stamped image.  I used circle nesties in plain and scallop to cut layers from BB and Real Red and also for the image.  Then used a Marianne's Designs die and matching sentiment for the shaped layer at the top and a Cheery Lynn holly die.  The bp is from the pack of papers I got in Hobbycraft recently and I've added some Stardust Stickles on the stamped image for a bit of sparkle which of course, as usual, isn't showing up in the pic.  I love the blue and red colour combo, a bit different for a christmas design.

I made this card to give to a crafting pal and I think she liked it !

I'll have more creations to share with you next time, thanks for visiting today.
