Cherish... Live..... Dream

I've got another of my Clean and Simple (CAS) cards to share with you today.  It's one of my friends' birthday today and this is the card I made for her - Happy Birthday Jacqueline, hope you have a great day.

I know she loves the clean and simple designs and one of her favourite colours is blue - so I figure I've hit at least two 'buttons' with this one !  Hope she likes it.

The image is one of the yummy new stamps from Penny Black, I think it's really elegant and chic and perfect for a CAS card.  The sentiment is by Dark Room Door and is great for many occasions.  All the stamping was done with Paris Dusk Memento ink, which is a lovely purpley shade of dark blue, and my favourite ink at the moment!

It's still a struggle to stop myself adding flowers, gems or other embellies to my CAS cards, but I am starting to feel more comfortable with the simple technique.

I ♥ Promarkers Challenge #61 - a sketch

This week's challenge on I ♥ Promarkers has a sketch to follow and the prize is sponsored by Kenny K.

I've used this sassy Kenny K image for my DT card and blinged it up big by using some of this lush glittered paper and some purple and Stardust Stickles.

The image layer and the next one down were cut using a set of large scallop rectangle nestie dies.  The ticket stamp is by Hero Arts.

It was a fun card to make and I love this Kenny K digi.

Home is Where They Are...

Hi there, it's Tuesday again so that means a project of mine is in the spotlight over on the Queen Kat Designs Dark Ink Sorority Blog.  I like to show my DT projects here own my own blog too for my regular followers to check out.


The stamp I've used on my project is from the Creepie Cuties Collection.  I coloured the image using Copics and attached to a slightly larger layer of dark blue cardstock. The circle behind the image was embossed and the flowers punched out of scraps of the background paper and cardstock and layered up. The flowers were finished off with faux pearls made using a Waco Pearlmaker Pen in pale blue.

A simple layout for this card, with no sentiment attached so that the card could be used for many occasions.

Creativity -v- Art

I am away from home and my stash at present and have very limited crafting goodies with me on my travels, but I have got into the habit of making at least one entry each week for the Less is More challenge.  This week we are asked to create a one layer card and focus on the sentiment.

With the few items I do have with me I put together this one layer card using stamps from the 'Circle It' set by Recollections and Tim Holtz 'Visual Artistry' from Stampers Anonymous. 

I inked up the circles image with Memento ink in Rich Cocoa, Rhubarb Stalk, Desert Sand and Potter's Clay, applying the colours randomly over the surface of the stamp.  I don't have a large enough acrylic block with me so just laid the inked up stamp on the card and pressed with my fingers, which produced an uneven image - exactly the effect I wanted!  The sentiment was stamped with Rich Cocoa ink and I added Gold Stickles to parts of the circles image as highlights.  I would have emphasised the sentiment more using a darker colour if I had my own stash, but hey this is the best I can do with what I have !

Simple Trilogy

Today's project is featuring Sadi from Queen Kat Designs again, she's just so sweet and pretty.

Recently I've been creating quite a few 'Clean and Simple' cards and I'm really liking them. I like the 'cameo' effect of this layout with three images of Sadi set into apertures and left uncoloured. The frond added at bottom right corner was cut out with a Marianne's Designs die and snipped in half as it was too large, the gem set at the bottom was from my stash.

With Sympathy

Good day dear Reader, I hope you are having a great one.

Sadly, I have been making rather too many Sympathy cards recently.  Whether it is because I am getting older or just one of those sad phases when we are losing friends and loved ones from our lives.

Following the CAS (clean and simple) style is how I approach these difficult cards.  Nothing can really help those who are bereaved, but just a note from a friend can let them know they are in our thoughts and maybe ease their pain a tiny bit at a difficult time.

This stamp of three simple flowers and the script style sentiment are perfect stamped in black on a plain white C6 card, clean simple and elegant.  I added touches of clear Spica Glitter Pen to add a very subtle shimmer to the flowers and the dots added after the sentiment, then considered it finished.

Touch of Red......

I am actually on vacation but such is the extent of my obession with the 'Less is More' style at the moment that I just had to get an entry made for this week's challenge on the Simply Less is More blog - A Touch of Red !!

I had to go out and buy a few essential supplies in order to create my card as I did not bring even a pair of scissors or a coloured pencil away on my hols with me, let alone blank cards or ink pads - hangs head in shame :O(

So here is my entry, not terribly inspired but the best I could do with very limited supplies.  The red bug isn't looking too red but I bought a set of dew drop Memento inks and this was the only reddish one in the pack.  I took the photo with my mobile phone so the quality of the picture isn't too great either.

I'll be on the look out for more supplies over the next few days and hope to do a little better next week !

I ♥ Promarkers Challenge #60 - Easter

As Easter is not far away now, I expect that like me you are busy creating Easter cards to send out to friends and family so why not get your cards finished and enter them for the I ♥ Promarkers challenge this week.  The prize this week is £10 to spend in Joanna Sheen's online Store.

For my DT card I've pulled together a number of recently acquired elements.  The lovely Tilda and Bunny image was a wee giftie inside a birthday card (thanks Rosie!).  I bought the Magnolia background stamp as I thought it would be really useful for lots of cards and the basket of Easter eggs and sentiment are from the new hAnglar and stAnglar stamp kit which I just couldn't resist!

The background paper is from the Laura Ashley Contemporary pad, the image is coloured with Promarkers and then layered up on to a scrap of SU! Orchid Opulence cardstock.  The lacey strip across the bottom was cut with a Nellie's Choice border die from SU! So Saffron cardstock, flowers punched from both colours of cardstock and pearl centres created with a Waco Pearlmaker Pen in Cream.

Tic Toc

Hurrah ! it's Tuesday and I get to share my latest Queen Kat Designs creation with you. As we are now into a new month, that means there are fabulous new stamps released by QKD and I got to play with 'Wind it Up' by Christina Myers, one of the new artists who's just joined us in the Castle.  I'm showcasing this project over on the Dark Ink Sorority Blog today. 

Spookily, I'd just bought a set of new cogs and wheels dies from Spellbinder, these are just perfect to go with this image. I also got the Cuttlebug cogs embossing folder recently too, so it all came together nicely.

After embossing the base layer, I rubbed a brown ink pad lightly over to emphasise the raised areas. I cut out a selection of the cogs with the dies and attached them.

The image was coloured with Copics and attached to a slightly larger layer cut from Garden Green cardstock from SU! before attaching to the embossed layer. I introduced touches of greeen to lift the whole design and add a focal point.  The square gems were from my stash.

Happy Anniversary

Happy Mothers' Day to all those of you with children, I'm spending mine with my Son, so I'm a happy Mummy although a little sad that I won't be seeing my Daughter too !!! 

Today is the Wedding Anniversary of dear friends of ours and we are hoping to see them at some point today to celebrate with them.

For their card I chose another of the lovely SU! stamps which are sadly no longer available.  I am so grateful to friends who do have the set and let me stamp some images.

The image was stamped with Rich Cocoa Memento ink and coloured using Copics.  The sentiment is from the same set and this was also stamped in the RC ink.  I attached the image layer over a simple rectangle cut from SU! Not Quite Navy cardstock.  I also cut out the swirl on the right from the same cardstock using a Marianne's die.  The butterflies were punched using a punch and emboss set from Nellie Snellen and a touch of Stardust Stickles added for their bodies. 

Another fairly simple card, but I'm happy with the finished item and hope our pals will also like it
