12 Days of Christmas - Festive Food

I hope you've been joining in with the fun over on the Queen Kat Designs blog for the past few days, celebrating 12 Days of Christmas.  With a new festive tag or card from one of the Design Team showcased every day.  My own card is being showcased today, day 6, so why not hop over there to see what the DT have been creating to share with you.

I also have a card to share with you today here on my own blog.  I have recently been challenging myself to create christmas cards using non-christmas themed stamps.  For my card I chose this stamp of a barrel of apples from Queen Kat Designs.  Wouldn't you just love finding one of these delicious shiny red apples at the bottom of your christmas stocking and sinking your teeth into it til the juice runs down your chin?  Or how about nibbling on one of these sweet gingerbread men with a cup of hot chocolate....mmmm.....
I used paper piecing on the barrel, stamping it on white card and again on a piece of christmas paper.  I then threaded red ribbon around the barrel to make it look more festive.  The apples were coloured with ProMarkers with Glossy accents added over the top to give them a luscious sheen.  I then cut out the image with a round nestabilities die and mounted this on to a layer of green card cut with a scalloped circle die.  Finally I added a double bow tied with red cord to the top to finish it off.  The gingerbread men were punched out using a Quickkutz Squeeze and decorated with Spica glitter pens.  The merry christmas ribbon was from my stash.  Background paper is from a pad by Papermania called Joyeux Noel.  The green layer was randomly stamped with lighter green chalk ink with a "seasons greetings" text and the tiny snowflakes are actually the 'waste' from a border punch I used on another card!  Finally I doodled some faux stitching around the edge of the white circle to add to the rustic feel.
I hope you've enjoyed viewing my card today, I hope you'll call back again as I have more creations to share with you over the next few days.  I do love reading comments, so if you care to leave me one I would be so happy!
